How We Got Started

Minks Emporium is a family owned business specializing in antique furniture, restoring products, and display accessories.

Our business began as a hobby, first sparked in childhood while traveling to various antique shops with my Grandparents.

Years later, when I began to try to furnish my home with basic necessity furniture--like a kitchen table, I found the furniture in my price range to be pressed wood and plastic. It didn't take much shopping to realize that I could probably get a real wood table for not much difference in price. A table that had some character and would be a little different. Something that had already stood the test of time and that could surely serve me well too! Couple this with my love of the history channel, museums, and tinkering with things and it just made sense to start peddling the stuff. Mink's Emporium is a small family owned business, we have fun working together and looking for the next odd find.

We offer a custom key service, send us your old furniture lock and we'll do our best to produce a functioning key! Being able to lock your pieces adds to their uniqueness. Add a nice tassel and it really dresses up the look plus helps keep from losing the key.  We enjoy the challenge of making keys for unique locks and the special reward is the excitement that our customers share with us when they get a key for their lock.

The items we offer on our website are products that we use in either repairing, cleaning or displaying various treasures. They are products that have worked well for us and we trust will please you too. Let us know how your project is going, we like to hear from folks. If you have any questions, please contact us at CustServ@MinksEmporium.com.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: We are so excited to have had an opportunity to participate in the Girls Hope project by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition season 8 in Baltimore, Maryland. The effort was dedicated to the Boys Hope Girls Hope Baltimore program. The program provides a safe home with positive role models and mentors for students which enable them to achieve an education. The boys in the program volunteered and helped with the girls home project. We thought that was a testament to the program in developing responsible young men. Every student associated with the Hope project received a full four-year college scholarships including room and board. We are listed as a sponsor in the furniture and accessories category of the Girls Hope episode.
